Chair’s Report: Day Two – Tuesday 13 January 2026

It was a very different scenario to last week. Drivers have clearly found alternative routes for Tuesdays. The combination of protesters and police meant that cars did not mount the pavement (as happens every other day = on Monday 12 January there was a continuous stream of traffic along the pavement). There was however the usual congestion, and one very large coach had to reverse into Tavern Lane in what looked like a very dangerous manoeuvre.

The police advised that they have been told by the school that parents have been asked to drop students at Shottery Fields rather than at the school gates. We also saw a large coach emerging from Hathaway Lane onto the Bell roundabout and having to reverse back into Hathaway Lane to be able to make the turn.

The expressions of support since last week‘s protest have been very positive. New members have joined NSRA and we have received countless messages from parents of young children having to pull their children away from cars driving on the pavement, and other experiences of near accidents involving traffic on the pavement and near misses.
